writing process

My writing process is still growing and expanding as I learn and develop into a better writer. I tend to put things off till the last minute but I have been working on this. I have gotten myself a planner that I write all of my homework, class activities, and time I have set aside for studying. My techniques for writing include making a brief overview of all the information I am writing about. Then I proceed to think of ways to organize my writings to where they will all make sense in the writing. A rough draft follows these steps. I proof read and get rid of all the spelling errors that I can find along with using my limited knowledge of grammar to help eliminate the mechanical errors (which there tends to be a lot). If I have someone around that I know and trust wont laugh at my writing abilities I have them do a quick peer edit. Finally I will start the final draft and with all the edits and mistakes that I know of clear I will write my paper and turn it in. Then of course pray to get a passing grade. That is the writing process that I tend to follow.

  1. At least it is good to see someone else who puts things off to the last minute. Don't know why Brandon, but it seems to work for me. When I'm under the gun, I have to start and there is no more procrastination.

  2. Brandon,
I used to put off work, but I have been better about it lately. It makes me nervous when I leave things until the last minute, because I am always afraid something will come up and I wont be able to finish it.
I think your writing process is really good, especially the peer review and praying for a passing grade. I do a lot of praying for grades, too. ha ha

  3. Brandon, you manage to engage in a pretty thorough, step-by-step writing process despite procrastinating. You might try setting deadlines for each step, so then you will finish your brainstorming well in advance of the assignment's due date and still have plenty of time for the rest of the steps.
